This is Between Builds
I’ve spent two decades building things: companies, teams, revenue, a school, and a family.
But the moments that shaped me most weren’t launch days or press releases. They were the in-betweens, the shaky stretches, the pauses before the next start, the seasons that felt like unraveling.
I used to see those spaces as wasted. Now I see them as formative.
That’s what Between Builds is about.
It’s a podcast, yes, but more than that, it’s a rhythm. It’s less about schedules and more about the cadence of being human while leading, grieving, parenting, or starting again.
Sometimes that shows up in conversations with founders and leaders in transition. Other times it’s just me with a mic, processing out loud.
Because the middle matters, and it shapes us more than we realize.
Why Now
I’m in my own in-between.
After scaling a fintech through a $150M exit, raising five kids (and fostering seven more), and walking through a faith unraveling that changed everything, I’ve had to learn how to sit in liminal space without rushing to the finish line.
This season has slowed me down. It’s pushed me to sift and sort, to ask harder questions about ambition, identity, and worth.
It’s easy to treat the in-between like dead space. But it isn’t. It’s where resilience and presence are formed. The quiet rebuilding no LinkedIn update can capture.
What You’ll Hear
Between Builds is less about polished answers and more about honest field notes from the middle, shared in the hope they help you in yours.
We’ll talk about:
Reclaiming liminal space: the foggy stretch between who you were and who you’re becoming.
Still human: the reality of being a COO, advisor, or parent, not just the LinkedIn headline.
The builders you don’t see: the quiet cofounders, the women reconstructing faith while building companies.
The spiritual thread: not a religious podcast, but faith and formation shape how I see myself and my neighbor.
What to Expect
In season one, I’ll be sitting down with founders and leaders in the thick of their own messy middles.
These aren’t polished stories about the finish line, but honest conversations about the uncertainty, waiting, and recalibration that shape us most.
Alongside the podcast, I’ll be using Substack as a space to slow down and reflect. Each episode will be paired with a written deep dive, a way to linger with what surfaced in the conversation, and to wonder aloud about the questions we all carry in our own in-betweens.
I hope you’ll listen in, reflect alongside me, and add your own voice to this unfolding conversation.

Hope in the In-Between
If you’re sitting between jobs, roles, belief systems, or even versions of yourself, you’re not alone.
Hope, to me, isn’t wishful thinking. It’s the steady expectation of coming good. It doesn’t erase the ache, it makes space inside it.
This in-between has taught me something I never expected: how to rest. To stop producing long enough to remember I am more than what I do. Rest has become a quiet rebellion against the old scripts of performance and proving.
So here we are, between what was and what’s next. Learning to stop, breathe, and trust that even in the pause, something sacred is being rebuilt.
Welcome to Between Builds.
